TTCC Spring Cycle Ride
Mrs. Day really pushed the boat (or should that be the bike?) out on Saturday with a towering, figure-hugging outfit that would have made Vivienne & Vita proud. The chaps looked pretty good too!
The bandstand in Vivary Park once again provided a glorious backdrop to our first slow bicycle race, with the Spring flowers in full bloom and not a cloud in the sky. The rules of the race are simple. One must maintain forward motion at all times and those tootsies must not touch the ground. The slowest cyclist wins! The course was one lap around the bandstand. It's harder than it looks and despite Mr Lewis' best efforts Mr. Power (who is very competitive you know) won the best of three. My tootsies went down I'm afraid.
After all that hard work it was off to Mile's Tea Room on the High Street for a pot of tea & a slice of Victoria sponge. And most delicious it was too. Thoroughly refreshed we cycled gently over to 'The Bicycle Chain' for a spot of ukulele and a circle of Pashleys with the crew - all very unexpected - thanks chaps!
So do join us next time if you think you'd enjoy dressing up, riding your bicycle and indulging in tea & cake - who wouldn't?! 'Taunton Tweed Cycle Chic's Summer Outing' is due to take place during the weekend of June 26th/27th 2010. Further details to follow soon.
Ta ta for now!
Miss Power's TTCC debut!
Miss Power came all the way from London via Dorchester to visit TTCC at the weekend. As well as taking in the sites of Forland Point Lighthouse on Exmoor, Miss Power made delicious fairy cakes with Mrs Day and had her first TTCC photoshoot. Miss Power looked resplendent in her outfit of vintage tweed jacket, green scarf corduroy flat cap and stripped tie (as a belt!). TTCC Inaugural Promenade in Vivary Park on October 4th 2009 at midday
The chaps and chapess (that's Mr Sargeant, Mr Lewis, Mr Power & Mrs Day to you) met at the bandstand in Vivary Park on Sunday for a jolly jaunt on their bicycles, a spot of ukulele playing & a nice cup of tea. Despite a light drizzle the glorious Autumnal palette provided the perfect backdrop for our photo shoot. The bikes looked resplendent and our dapper tweeds certainly drew in curious passers-by. Mr Lewis & Mr Sargeant entertained us with a few tunes from yesteryear before a cuppa and a genteel promenade through the town. Sadly Mr Sargeant's equipment let him down (a rear puncture) which meant an early retirement to The Racehorse for a pint or two of 'Proper Job', and very fine it was too!
Tweed and Roadster Photo Shoot!Mrs Day and I made the most of the good weather and took photographs of our Roadsters and Mrs Day in her favourite lycra-free cycling ensemble. Mrs Day looked spiffing in her tweed blouson, purple leather riding gloves and green leather sling-backs. Truimph Roadster off for a full service! My Triumph Roadster is in need of a little TLC so I took it off to The Bicycle Chain for a full going-over and service. The old girl should be back on the road in a jiffy and just in time for the inaugural TTCC bicycle promenade and picnic. Watch this space!
Mrs Day's Raleigh Roadster is on the road!
Pashley's and Blue Jays...Nipper was resplendent on his Pashley Sovereign Classic Roadster as he made his way to The Plough public house in Taunton for a pint or two of Cotleigh Blue Jay, a fine accompaniment to a spot of Roadster roving! |
